Everyone with a computer sooner or later has the awful experience of losing all their files due to hard drive failure, viruses, or other accidents. It can be particularly heartbreaking to loose irreplaceable photos or lots of work, and financially disasterous for businesses to loose critical documents, databases, and email.
Features in detail
Security and Encryption.
The security of your files is paramount. All files are encrypted before leaving your computer, and remain encrypted on our servers, plus they go through another Layer of encryption to get there.
All files can be further scrambled by a password key you provide. This never leaves your computer, and prevents anyone (including us!) from being able to read your files.
We use military-grade 1024-bit RSA Public Key Encryption coupled with an RC4 cipher. Both of which are used everyday in SSL for secure web and wireless communication, so they're well proven.
Block-level Differential Backups
When files are changed, only the changes need to be stored. This massively speeds up the Second Backup onwards and saves storage space.
Stores Multiple File Versions
When you backup a changed file, and only the difference is backed up, you still have access to all versions. The system is intelligent enough to only store the parts they have in common once, for massive storage savings. This can make it seem like you have more data stored than your storage quota should allow! We only count what is truely stored.
Intelligent Block-level De-dupliciation
The system is intelligent enough to Detect when files are duplicates or have shared parts, and avoids storing redundant data, saving space and speeding up backup times further.
Compression
To save even More Space & reduce backup time, all files are compressed as they're uploaded using the GZip Deflate algortihm, so you don't have to worry about doing it.
If files can't be made smaller (perhaps if they're already compressed), then they're just stored.
